Is Obama in danger of a Carteresque "Rabbit Attack"?
A writer at the Chicago Tribune seems to think so. He quotes a veteran Chicago Democrat as saying that it's still a bit early in Obama's presidency for a Rabbit Attack moment, but "it's close. Real close."
This is news to me. I lived through the malaise of the Carter years. The misery index. I lived through the 20+ percent inflation. Sky high interest rates. I watched my parents trapped in their home that was impossible to sell. All Americans were hostage during the Carter years, not only those Americans held by Iranian militants.
Well, apparently there was a rabbit attack incident when Carter was on vacation in Georgia. Most photos of this incident are top secret and have never been released, but reportedly a bunny swam close to Carter's canoe and Carter beat the bunny off with his canoe paddle.
The writer goes on to say that the ridicule stemming from this incident helped to galvanize Ronald Reagan into the presidency.
I disagree. While this incident is funny, nobody in my family had ever heard of it. We voted against Carter because his policies were destroying our country. His policies were hurting us personally.
And just like Obama's presidency, it's the policies, stupid.
