Is it racist to post Runaway Slave Movie trailer?

I'm sure some hardened socialists will cry racism. But who can argue that the blessings of liberty guaranteed in our Constitution are not for all of us, We The People.

Boy Scouts demonstrate folding American Flag

It doesn't hurt to review the flag rules. Someone should tell Obama the part about never dipping the flag in salute to anything or anyone. Maybe he'll get a spine and stop bowing and scraping to other countries and leaders.

Libyan prisoner beheading to "Allahu Akbar"

And John McCain calls them heroes?

I don't know what's going on in Libya. Certainly Qaddafi is a bad guy. But these rebels are suspect. I worry that they are not freedom fighters, but totalitarian fighters for the dominance of islam over the world.

I include a link to the beheading video for those who must see it for themselves. The story is that this prisoner surrendered and was in custody. I have not and will not personally watch the torture-murder of a human being.

Graphic beheading video.

Is Obama in danger of a Carteresque "Rabbit Attack"?

A writer at the Chicago Tribune seems to think so. He quotes a veteran Chicago Democrat as saying that it's still a bit early in Obama's presidency for a Rabbit Attack moment, but "it's close. Real close."

This is news to me. I lived through the malaise of the Carter years. The misery index.  I lived through the 20+ percent inflation. Sky high interest rates. I watched my parents trapped in their home that was impossible to sell. All Americans were hostage during the Carter years, not only those Americans held by Iranian militants.

Well, apparently there was a rabbit attack incident when Carter was on vacation in Georgia. Most photos of this incident are top secret and have never been released, but reportedly a bunny swam close to Carter's canoe and Carter beat the bunny off with his canoe paddle.

The writer goes on to say that the ridicule stemming from this incident helped to galvanize Ronald Reagan into the presidency.

I disagree. While this incident is funny, nobody in my family had ever heard of it. We voted against Carter because his policies were destroying our country. His policies were hurting us personally.

And just like Obama's presidency, it's the policies, stupid.

Get out and vote WI-sen 22 and 12, fleeing Democrat recall day!

via Gateway Pundit
Today is voting day in the recall elections for two of Wisconsin's Democrat senators who decided to flee the state rather than stay and do their jobs. These people abandoned their post. They were paid to do a job and they fled. They are being paid, by the way, by all of the residents of Wisconsin, not just the Democrats. So when they do something so base and partisan as to flee the state so that a quorum cannot be called when there is a vote scheduled, they are NOT acting as state senators, but rather party hacks. I think these senators should not only be recalled, but should be forced to pay back the portion of their salaries that was paid by the Republican and Independent voters of Wisconsin.

Democratic Sen. Bob Wirch runs today against challenger Jonathan Steitz, a corporate attorney, in the Kenosha-area 22nd Senate District. Democratic Sen. Jim Holperin runs against Kim Simac, a tea party activist, in the 12th Senate District, located in the north.

Now get out and VOTE!

Michele Bachmann Rule 5

I hope this post isn't taken in the wrong way. I think it is inappropriate to objectify women, especially women who move in the halls of power. It is a tool of our enemies and it used against wonderful, patriotic women.

On the other hand, Newsweek published a cover picture of Michele Bachmann this week that seemed an attempt to portray her as looking crazed. They are able to find pictures of her looking all sorts of ways because she is a woman who still is able to control her facial muscles, for lack of Botox. That is a plus, not a minus. But still, they must have had to leaf through all sorts of attractive pictures of her because she is a photogenic lady.

So, whether you believe she belongs in the Oval Office or not, she is a remarkable woman in so many ways, caring for her constituents, her family and a score of foster children throughout the years. I know her heart is in the right place. She understands the financial and cultural peril our country is in and is willing to take the slings and arrows that come with standing up for what is right.

What follows is a short homage to her. Michele, if you read this, know that many Americans (and Iowans!) feel that you are a lovely human being, inside and out.

And remember to check out other Rule 5 greats:

Saturday night is bath night at Theospark.

American Power features a Jaime Lee Curtis sexy dance from the movie True Lies.

Maggie at Maggie's Notebook has the Ecclestone sisters, Tamara and Petra and Annie Ilonzeh.

Teresamerica features Angie Harmon.

And a rare treat, TCL's one rule 5 post of the year.

Shaw introduces Putin's Army of scantily-clad car wash babes.

The Pirate's Cove has a lovely pinup.

The Eye of Polyphemus turns toward Alessandra Torresani.

The Classic Liberal justifies Madonna's love.

And don't forget to celebrate rule 5 "Woodsterman Style".

Condell's exquisite rant about UK riots

Another great rant from Pat Condell, courtesy of my blogging friend, Amusing Bunni. Great find, Bunni. He sure puts the riots in the UK into perspective.

Did Obama exploit SEAL team 6?

Maybe. He certainly made sure to bask in their glow after the Bin Laden raid and after the Somali pirate victory.

Does Obama plan to exploit SEAL team 6? Apparently. There are reports that his administration has given information to filmmakers who have agreed to release a movie about the Bin Laden raid a month prior to the next presidential election.

Did the Obama administration have a motive for betrayal of SEAL team 6? Not clear.  The death of so many of our finest is a huge blow to America.

The movie deal and the timing warrant official investigation, in my opinion. And the chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee agrees with me on this. Has anybody spotted Darrell Issa lately?

Santelli: Without Tea Party U.S. would be rated BBB

If it had not been for the Tea Party, we would have had a clean debt ceiling increase and been downgraded to BBB instead of AA+. The CNBC host tried very hard to disprove Santelli's contention that we have a spending problem. He tried to say that we should raise taxes, of course. He must be a Democrat. Democrats never met a tax they didn't like. These idiots need to be sidelined out of American politics. You can prove to them that raising taxes reduces overall revenues to the government, but they still don't care. All they want to do is to hurt their fellow Americans. There can be no other explanation for the mania to raise taxes, despite the fact that it lowers revenues to the government.

Obama's policies are a huge wet blanket on economy

This video is posted by Senate Republicans. You Tube shows it with fewer than 100 page views. Embedding code was difficult to locate, as a flaw in the page had a window covering the "share" button. Not sure why that was, but I finally got the code copied. As much as we need to cleanse our party of RINOs, Obama and the Dems are poison for the U.S. economy. And their solution to our problems is to tax more. Unbelievable.

Doctor Who and Rose Tyler

My college boy was home for a couple of weeks and now he is gone. :-(

While he was here, though, he showed me the entire season of Dr. Who with Eccleston as the doctor and Piper as Rose. I have not seen any other seasons, but after doing a little reading around, I see that the Doctor never had as personal a relationship with any of his other female companions as he had with Rose. And who can blame him. She's gorgeous. And a sweet young thing. Full of wide-eyed wonder. I bet the producer and writers were in love with her, too, creating extra-special shows just for her.

Here is the climax of the final show of the season.

This series has spanned 47 years and there have been 11 different actors playing the Doctor.

San Francisco launches new ordinance attacking pregnancy centers

Now pro aborts are attacking the free speech rights of Pregnancy Help Clinics.  They are demanding that the clinics post large signs that they do not offer abortions or abortion referrals, and change their google advertising links that compete with abortion mills.  Refusing to do this would result in misdemeanor charges, fines and contempt of court.  Conversely, no abortion mills are told to post signs that they do not offer alternatives to abortion or refer for pregnancy or adoption support.

I have actually visited a faith-based anti-abortion clinic and met the staff.  There was nothing deceptive about what they did.  It was common knowledge that they offered counseling and pregnancy support.  Through donations they offered free medical care and helped in many other areas too, such as maternity clothes and baby gear.  I donated all of my maternity clothes to one of these clinics.

San Francisco pro-life advocate Steven Ertelt (one of my Twitter buddies) writes:
Officials in San Francisco are launching a new campaign to target pregnancy centers in the city that help women find abortion alternatives with a new law similar to ones passed in Baltimore and New York.
Supervisor Malia Cohen and City Attorney Dennis Herrera have spent months on an ordinance that would, if passed, require the pro-woman centers to disclose whether they are abortion alternatives agencies that, supposedly, don’t provide comprehensive health care. The pair have made erroneous claims that the centers are engaging in misleading counseling and advertising.
The two announced the new initiative at a press conference — where pro-life advocates participated and asked them questions challenging their assumptions. They say the legislation came about because of complaints about First Resort, a pregnancy centers that operates locations in San Francisco, Oakland and surrounding areas. The San Francisco Chronicle indicates Herrera sent a letter to First Resort claiming that its advertising methods are misleading by making women believe it does abortions, because they try to compete with abortion centers in purchase links at Google for searches on abortion.
He claimed the centers are “right-wing, politically motivated centers” engaging in conduct that is “nothing short of egregious.” Beyond the legislation, he said that if First Resort doesn’t change its advertising practices by August 31 he will file suit on behalf of the city.
ACTION: Contact the San Francisco Board of Supervisors at http://www.sfbos.org and urge opposition to the proposal to target pregnancy centers. Contact Hererra at http://www.sfcityattorney.org/index.aspx?page=9

Banks bulldoze foreclosed homes

Meredith Jenks / Getty Images
UPDATED (5:29 PM)
Banks have a new remedy for America's ailing housing market: bulldozers.
There are nearly 1.7 million homes in the U.S. in some state of foreclosure. Banks already own some of these homes and will soon repossess many more. Many housing economists worry that a near constant stream of home sales by banks could keep housing prices down for years to come. But what if some of those homes never hit the market?
Increasingly, it appears that banks are turning to demolition teams instead of realtors to rid themselves of their least-valuable repossessed homes. Last month, Bank of America announced plans to demolish 100 foreclosed homes in the Cleveland area. The land will then be donated to local government authorities. BofA says the donations in Cleveland are part of a larger plan to rid itself of its least-salable properties, many of which, according to a company spokesperson, are worth less than $10,000. BofA has already donated 100 homes in Detroit and 150 in Chicago, and may add as many as nine more cities by the end of the year.

And Hillbuzz mentions that black neighborhoods in Dayton, Ohio are devastated. There are so many vacant lots the city is begging the neighbors who remain to mow the grass on the lots.

Editorial cartoon suggests Obama send SEALs to assassinate Tea Party

"I've seen...bad men do good things"-Cowboys and Aliens

I saw this movie today. A fun little romp. That was one of the lines. I was reminded of it just now as I looked at the top stories, and I saw that Charlie Sheen rescued Brooke Mueller, his ex wife, from a Mexican rehab facility. He was worried about her health and had her flown by private jet up to his rehab specialists in the U.S. I think what he did was thoughtful and sweet. Just proves that nobody is all good or all bad.

Sen John McCain gives Tea Party credit for debt deal

via newser
Sen. John McCain decided to give credit to the Tea Party for derailing Obama's drive for tax increases in the debt ceiling debate.

Of course, McCain has been none too popular with conservatives after he basically called in his candidacy against Obama in 2008, losing miserably. He gave little more effort than Giuliani and reaped proportionate benefit.

After years of lukewarm support of conservative causes, McCain had the gall to read from a Washington Times Op Ed last Wednesday on the Senate floor, calling the Tea Party participants "hobbits".

I thought dehumanization was supposed to be reserved for one's enemies. Is that what we are to you, Mr. McCain? Do you see us as your enemies? 20 percent of the American people? Because last I saw, you have an R after your name. Do you think that offending the Tea Party, most of whom vote Republican in elections, is a good way to promote yourself or your causes?

I hope you switch parties, Mr. McCain. You have been shilling for Democrats these many years. At least be honest about it.
