Halloween light show neighbors react

Most people want to know if this guy's neighbors hate him. He says they don't because he only puts on one show per evening, from 7:30 to 8pm, with a few different songs playing, ending with the Party Rock Anthem. I think tonight might be the last night. You have two hours to figure out how to get there, or wait until next year. This is a sweet little video with the man's kids dancing in front of the garage door, and the man himself joins them at the end.

Another Green Company bankrupt on taxpayer dollars

And Beacon, like Solyndra, is run by another special friend of Obama? "As with Solyndra, the head of Beacon Power appears to have been a supporter of President Obama's," said Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Alabama). Now I think I know why Obama was so manic pushing his "jobs" (stimulus) bill. The house of cards needed another infusion of taxpayer cash or else. How many more companies will go bankrupt, flushing our hard-earned cash down the drain.

Soviet Emigre confronts Occupy Wall Street socialists

This segment shows how woefully inadequate our public school history classes are. Or maybe these folks were absent (absent minded, more like).

My dad is ill

I have been down lately. I might as well tell you. My beloved father has one good lung left, the other gone to cancer. This man has weathered many storms in his life with courage and stoicism. He has been a rock and is much loved in our family.

I wrote about him in 2007 in a post titled Perseverance and Optimism.

Prayers for his health and comfort are most welcome. We had a nice visit last weekend.

Welcome Home Gilad Shalit!

What a great day this is that Gilad Shalit returns home to family and friends.

Israel is understandably happy.
via UK Telegraph
I just heard on Fox News that muslims are vowing to kidnap more Israeli soldiers in order to secure the release of more of their terrorists. I imagine Israel is aware of this, and plans a WARM reception for anybody attempting these attacks.

Occupy Wall Street protesters are Marxists

If you don't believe Glenn Beck, believe the "people". Listen to their own words. These are not a few "crazies". These are Marxist revolutionaries on our soil. Take this seriously. Hat Tip American Thinker.

Julianne Hough - Rule 5

I heard today from one of my son's soccer coaches that his wife dragged him to see Footloose on Friday night, opening night. He rolled his eyes when he said it, and got sympathy from the other dads.

On the other hand, men might enjoy the movie. Who can object to Julianne Hough?  I mean, after all, she's limber.

And she enjoys swimming.

Pretty eyes and hair.

And you can place that order to go.

Missing Libyan shoulder-fired missiles marching toward Gaza?

Fox News continues to report that shoulder-fired missiles are missing from Libya, and that they are searching for them because they have the ability to shoot down commercial airliners. I wonder why they are not including this news reported on October 12 that many of these types of weapons are flooding into the Egyptian Sinai peninsula on the way to Gaza?
Large caches of weapons from Libya are making their way across the Egyptian border and flooding black markets in Egypt’s already unstable Sinai Peninsula, The Washington Post reported Wednesday, October 12. Egyptian security officials have intercepted surface-to-air missiles on the road to Sinai and in the smuggling tunnels connecting Egypt to the Gaza Strip since Moammar Gaddafi fell from power in Libya in August, a military official in Cairo said. The seizures raise fresh concerns about security along the sensitive area that borders the Gaza Strip and Israel, at a time when unrest is roiling the region. The addition of shoulder-fired antiaircraft missiles to arsenals of Palestinian fighters in Gaza could add significantly to the threat against Israel, whose helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft frequently patrol the strip, which is controlled by the terrorist group Hamas. “We’ve intercepted more advanced weapons, and these weapons aren’t familiar to the Egyptian weapons markets; these are war weapons,” said an Egyptian brigadier general who served recently in the Sinai.
As of October 14, the New York Times reported that the U.S. State Department is sending dozens of private contractors to Libya to try to track down an unknown number missing heat-seeking shoulder-fired missiles. They are most concerned about missing SA-7, or Stinger-style missiles. They are not sure how many of the arsenal of 20,000 are now in rebel/looter's hands.

Autobiography in 5 short chapters, by Portia Nelson (1977)

Chapter I
I walk down the street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I fall in.
I am lost... I am hopeless.
It isn't my fault.
It takes forever to find a way out.
Chapter II
I walk down the same street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
pretend I don't see it.
I fall in again.
I can't believe I am in this same place.
But it isn't my fault.
It still takes a long time to get out.
 Chapter III
I walk down the same street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
see it there.
I still fall in... it's a habit... but,
my eyes are open.
I know where I am.
It is my fault.
I get out immediately.
 Chapter IV
I walk down the same street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I walk around it.
Chapter V
I walk down another street.

May all who observe Yom Kippur have an easy fast.

The new year is a time for reflection, new resolutions and maybe, eventually, transformation.

UC Irvine Muslim Students found guilty of disrupting speech

The muslim students planned and executed an unrelenting heckling of Ambassador Oren of Israel at UC Irvine last year. His speech was prevented completely by the action of the students. This was not normal heckling. They stopped the entire program. At the time, Ambassador Oren told Dr. Michael Drake, chancellor of UCI, "What is at stake here is freedom of speech."
Prosecutor Dan Wagner told jurors the students acted as censors to block the free flow of ideas and infringed upon the rights of 700 people who had gone to the Irvine campus to hear Oren.
"In this country, you get to protest. That's a vital component of our society," said Dan Stormer, the defendants' civil rights attorney.
"We can't allow a group of people to shut down the free speech of our society. We can't allow them to use the 'heckler's veto,'" said Orange County District Attorney Tony Rackauckas.
Rabbi David Eliezrie wrote in Orange County Jewish Life October 2011:
This is why the trial is so crucial. It's not just UCI, but campuses nationwide. The strategy of radical Muslim students using intimidation and threats is a part of a broader conspiracy to inhibit Jews from standing up for Israel. It's working: during the recent conflict in Gaza, I suggested to community leaders that Jewish centers and synagogues put signs out in front saying, "We support Israel." None did except at our center in Yorba Linda. Most were worried about attacks from radical Muslims. One leader asked me, "What about the safety of congregants?"
Rabbi Eliezrie credits Orange County District Attorney Tony Rackauckas, a non-Jew, for realizing the scope of the danger, and states, because if the DA's courage, hopefully radical muslims will learn what democracy is all about.

I am proud of Rabbi Eliezrie and his courageous congregants. The Orthodox Jewish community of Chabad stood up to Muslim threats in Mumbai, India and around the world. We can learn a lesson from their bravery and loyalty to Israel.
